SENSATIONAL Solomon Islands artists Funky and Rushee who are living in Papua New Guinea (PNG) early this month took part in the WANSOL festival in PNG.

The duo who launched their first album in Solomon Islands with the title True Love  in 2008 were among PNG’s popular artists and artists  from New Caledonia and Fiji who took part in the festival.

Floyd Manata(Funky) in an interview said the event was managed  by the Unplugged Stereo of PNG and sponsored by many other sponsors including KB stone productions, Patti Pots Mangrove Studios of New Caledonia, FM100 and others.

“We are really privileged to represent Solomon Islands at the festival because we are also promoting our music,” he said.

Mr Manata said the event is the first of its kind and next year they are planning to host a bigger WANSOL festival which will include other bands from the Pacific including Solomon Islands.

He said the WANSOL is a music festival which means musicians from the Pacific coming together to share their music.

“I want artists in Solomon Islands to prepare for next year’s event because some of them might be lucky enough to attend the festival.”

Mr Manata also said next year it will be very likely that Christina Anu from the Torres- strait will also take part in the event with Naio from Vanuatu.

Mr Manata also added that at the moment Funky and Rushee is working on video clips in PNG for their second album titled `Love Forever` and are also working on their third album.

He said they are really proud to represent Solomon Islands in the WANSOL festival and are looking forward for more artists from Solomon Islands to take part in next year’s festival.
