They are Shultze Maetoloa of Third World Crew, Walter Leo (Wally Pazzi), Amos Ngodoro (Nangua), Sebastian Kere (Radical TK), Losa Takae.
Third World Crew producer Mr Maetoloa, who is also the leader of the group, said the main idea behind their tour is to promote and expose the young talents in the country to the outside world.
He said Wally Pazzi would be leading the group on stage in most shows during their tour because his style of music blends well with the reggae market in Australia.
The other three artists, Radical TK, Nangua and Losa were brought along so that they could expose their talents, Mr Maetoloa said.
The Third World Crew producer said touring in countries like Australia needs a lot of hard work and commitment because you have to reach a standard where your music actually catches fans there.
Mr Maetoloa who won the best reggae producer award in Australia earlier this year was the man behind all the arrangements as he helped artists recording under his banner like Wally Pazzi to break into the Australian music scene.
“Little did plenty people overseas know about Solomon Islands but they do know that Solomon Islands have talented young musicians and I think this is a chance we can start off with to expose our young artists,” he said.
Mr Maetoloa went as far as Gizo in the Western Province to select the artists that will represent Solomon Islands music in the festival.
He said he was not promoting only those whom he have been recording their music but he would like to help all musicians especially the bands like Door Mans Project (DMP).
“At the moment I’m working closely with DMP and if all go well they will be lucky to attend another music festival in Brisbane at the end of the year.
“They are currently the most popular band in town and I have a heart to see such talents hit the world market in music,” he said.
The five musicians will have a golden opportunity to meet and know other famous reggae artists and bands around the globe as far as Jamaica who will also partake in the festival.
The trip will also boost the morale of the five local artists and also other music artists in the country seeing that they have an opening to get exposed overseas.
Wally Pazzi, the key man of the five, was excited.
“We are very happy that this opportunity is a very big thing for all of us since it’s the first time for us to be given the chance to attend such a big music festival like this and we are very priveliged given this opportunity to expose our music style,” Pazzy said.
“There are many young artists in the country and for once at least we show the road to exposing our music and they can follow suit to get their music exposed outside.”
After the festival the group will then move to Brisbane to attend a Melanesian music Party show before returning.
The group paid for their own airfares while organisers will take care of other expenses when they reach Australia.
Wally Pazzy thanked Mr Maetoloa for his support to help prepare the group for the festival.
The group also thanked the Western Provincial government, Hon.Gordon Darcy Lilo and the Ministry for Youth, Women and Sports for all their support towards their preparations prior to their departure.
The group will spend two weeks in Australia before returning.
