SPONSORS and supporters that contributed up to $500,000 towards the successful completion of the newly dedicated Bethany local SSEC church building were applauded for their contributions to a good cause.
Speaking at the official opening of the church last Thursday, local organising committee chairman Preston Billy said without their backing and support, the church would not have been completed.
Amongst the sponsors were the Deputy Prime Minister and Member of Parliament for East Malaita Manasseh Maelanga, and the MP for West Kwaio Peter Tom.
Other sponsors, Mr Billy said, include Henry Mafane, Lucius Nooi of Melanesian Secretariat Printery, Auki based Chinese Businessman David Chan, Timotheus Talau, the builders (Timothy Afu and Eddie Korai), Eddie Ama and group.
All Gula’ala Zone 5 churches and members and other denominations such as Assembly of God (AOG), Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACoM), Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, and others also contributed.
Mr Billy also thanked the SSEC communities in Honiara for their contributions towards the building of the chapel.
He added it took his team one year and six months to complete the new church building.
It costs his dedicated members of the committee half a million dollars to get the building standing.
