Pope’s rep visits SI

ARCHBISHOP Christopher Cardone OP and religious congregations welcomed the representative of the Holy Father, Pope Francis, His Excellency Archbishop Kuria Mathew Vayalunkal at the Honiara International Airport on Wednesday 8th February, 2017.

It is His Excellency first official visit to the Catholic Church of Solomon Islands.  He will be visiting the other two Catholic Dioceses of Gizo and Auki within these few days.

The warriors of Holy Name of Mary Seminary at Tenaru with the Nazareth Apostolic Center welcomed His Excellency with Archbishop Chris in the evening.

It was a great occasion as His Excellency was the main celebrant for the Eucharist.

In his homily he encouraged the seminarians to love their call, be people of dialogue and learn to serve the people of God.

“You are trained to become priests forever not priests with schedules.

Be Seminarians for the people, feel their suffering, pain, hunger and joy.

Bring God to the lives of our people.”

His Excellency will make few official visits to the government and other organizations, prison and schools.

Archbishop Chris is so pleased with the visit of the Apostolic Nuncio as to help affirm and encourage the faith of the Catholic people in the Catholic Church and other faith denominations.
