Youths surprises the old and the sick

MORE than 50 aged people and sick patients at Helena Goldie Hospital in Munda, Western province were blessed with rice and noodles during the Christmas Day on Sunday.

This was after youths of Trinity Assemblies of God (AOG) church in Munda went to their homes and Hospital to donate gifts.

The youths covered homes from Ilagana to Kindu before completing their mission called “Samaritan Purse” at the Hospital.

Youth pastor Derrick Kera provided his transport to execute the mission.

It’s a shocking and emotional encounter for the sick and hospital staff when the youths approached them with gifts.

One of the old men thanked the church for remembering him saying he did not expect anything like that.

Hospital chaplain, Constantine Selu said the food received would be used as dinner for the sick patients.

Trinity church pastor, Erick Lamani said this was the first time for the church to go out and blessed old people and the hospital during Christmas.

Mr Lamani said the church first reached out to the communities with the word of God in 2009.

However, he said the church decided to share the word of God and at the same time show it physically this year.

He said what they were trying to do was show love to people in the community as seen in the story of the Good Samaritan in the Bible.
