CHURCHES play a big and important role in the development of the province so this must continue in years to come.
These were the remarks of Malaita Provincial Premier Richard Irosaea during the Fakaloloma 80th Anniversary celebrations on 29 December 2009.
In commending the establishment of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in the Lau Lagoon, the premier said that churches look after 99.9% of the Provinces entire population.
The SDA Church is the fastest growing denomination in the entire northern region, according to Mr Irosaea.
“Having seen the achievements and contributions that churches have bestowed upon us in the entire province, I am proud to say that Malaita wants churches involved in the development of the province,” Mr Irosaea said.
He said as Christians, everyone should look at the struggles and achievements that each pioneer form each denomination has put in ensuring that Christianity reaches various areas of the province.
“Churches help lead people spiritually and physically – it is a means of development in all aspects,” he said.
Mr Irosaea urged all Malaitans to make 2010 a peaceful and meaningful year for all.
“The only way to achieving that is to get involved in Church activities and programmes and allow God to lead us all in directing and re-directing our paths.
“Then and only then can we develop and be satisfied with life,” the premier said.
Mr Irosaea said that the province will continue to support each denomination through whatever means possible.
