The plan was agreed on by
the two institutions, which are both Seventh Day Adventist owned, some years
back when staff of the university visited the hospital.
Atoifi, in Malaita, had been running a nursing school over the past years.
The hospital’s school of nursing principal Humpress Harintong said the plan was for the university to introduce its nursing courses at their school.
“The plan has been there for a while. This year, we are now waiting on the church authority to give us the go-ahead,” Mr Harington said.
Meanwhile, Mr Harington
said classes at their nursing school started on Monday.
