I PRAY this week will be a blessed one for all.

These were the simple words of the World Youth Director of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Dr Baraka Muganda when arriving for the Church’s week-long Youth Congress yesterday.

Before a colourful traditional welcome by youths from Renbel Province and an official parade by the hundreds of youth participanting in the program, Dr Muganda said that it is indeed an honour to be in the Solomon Islands to be God’s mouth piece to local youths this week.

Dr Muganda came all the way from the Church’s General Conference Headquarters in Washington DC, USA.

President of the Solomon Islands Mission of the SDA Church, Pr Andrew Kingston thanked the World Youth Director for accepting the invitation to come to the Solomon Islands and be part of the Congress despite his busy scheduals.

Pr Kingston said that youths would indeed be blessed through the messages that have been prayfully prepared by Dr Munganda.

Pr Kingston, who had been a long time colleague and friend of Dr Muganda, said that he has been blessed by the latter’s messages, adding that together they have been part of youth camps and congresses throughout the Pacific and other parts of the world.

Youth Director of the Trans-Pacific Union Mission (TPUM), which looks after Solomon Islands Mission, Pr Maveni Kaufononga thanked Dr Muganda for availing himself in attending one of the Pacific’s first major events for this year 2010.

“The early part of the year is family time-time to spent with one’s families.

“We are greatful that you (Dr Muganda) you are here despite your other commitments.

“It is indeed a previlidge to have you here with us in the Pacific region, especially for this weeklong youth Congress in the Solomon Islands,” Pr Kaufononga said.

Dr Muganda gave his first message last night based on the theme ‘Love, care and Serve.

Activities apart from the nightly services involved during the weeklong congress include; workshops, seminars and other trainings based on issues affecting youths both spiritually and socially.
