THE annual Women’s Ministry conference for all the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church women will start next week.
The annual week-long conference will start on Sunday with registration.
An official parade is also planned as part of the official opening. Details about the official opening were not available.
The one week conference will bring together women representatives from local Adventist churches around the country.
Throughout this week women groups from the provinces are expected to travel to Honiara in time before the opening.
Women groups from the Western Province have started arriving.
Some have arrived over the weekend, others yesterday on board Pelican Express with more arriving later today on board MV Bikoi 1.
Most of the programmes will be held at the Marantha Hall, near Burns Creek, east of Honiara.
Participants will be camping near the program venue in tents.
Throughout the week a number of spiritual activities including prayer sessions, bible studies, talks and seminars on health and business will be conducted.
A statement from the Women's Ministries department said the Women Ministry is different from Dorcas department of the church.
“Dorcas department specialises in welfare ministries to the poor and needy whereas Women's Ministry specifically applies itself to the spiritual needs of women within the church.
“We are active in developing ministries that can help our women come closer to our Lord in their spiritual walk.
“We help with work in AIDS education and have programs that are informative for women in the special situations that only women face, problems with social situations, family needs, pregnancy related issues, motherhood matters and so on.
“We have special knowledge and resources in these areas and you in your village in your mission territory may want to approach us about what we might be able to do for you and the women in your area,” the department said.
The department said next week’s program is part of reviving the spiritual growth of the women in the church while serving their families.
The final number of participants will be known upon registration.
Last year a similar conference was also held. A number of overseas and local guest speakers are expected to be featured throughout the week.
