The group convinced judges with the lyrics of their song during an open competition held at the Maranatha Hall at Burns Creek, last Saturday.
Church member James Tuita composed the song based on the theme of the upcoming camporee “Courage to tell”.
About 13 youth groups participated in the competition.
Hondis Pathfinder assistant coordinator Nancy Sarue said local pathfinders need a theme song to sing at the camporee in Port Vila later this year.
Ms Sarue said the camporee, which will run from December 19-25, will bring together see pathfinders from the Pacific region.
“Now local pathfinders will practice the theme song to get them prepared for the camporee,” she said.
Ms Sarue said Kukum youth group proved to the judges that their song was the best for the theme.
She said the winning theme song was judged on its lyrics, confidence, originality, and melody.
The group also collected $1000 for winning the competition.
The second prize was won by young Savina Agioma, who collected $600.
Jocelyn Iro came third and received $300, while Calvin Orely was given the consolation prize.
