A SEVENTH Day Adventist (SDA) pastor has called on voters in East Central Guadalcanal to accept the winning candidate Joseph Onika.

Pastor Evan Upolu said voters in the constituency disagreed with Mr Onika’s election victory, saying his level of education was very limited.

Mr Onika, a former national sprinter who before his election was en employee of Solomon Islands College of Higher Education, unseated former strongman Nollen Leni.

Pastor Upolu said Mr Onika may not be highly educated but he’s the people’s choice.

“What people need to know is any leader is chosen by God. Before the elections, God already has in mind who is going to be the new MP for East Central Guadalcanal,” he said.

“So Mr Onika’s election is not a mistake, but through the divine will of God.”

Pastor Upolu said all Mr Onika needs to do now is seek the wisdom of God to guide him in his leadership.

“I am calling on all voters to give their support to the new MP.”
