TENAKOGA Community High School (CHS) in north east Guadalcanal over the weekend held its annual graduation ceremony for its form five leavers.

The annual event is the highlight for this year according to the school form 5 class president Webster Winch, who comes from Western Province.

About 30 students successfully ended their academic year after sitting their two weeks exam.

Mr Winch took the opportunity to thank the school faculty for their time, commitment, cooperation and handwork for the last 8 months spending with them in the school compound.

“I thank the school for the support they have provided financially, academically, spiritually and socially,” Mr Winch said.

“The knowledge that you have imparted to us will be something that helps us to become more successful students in the future,’’ he said.

He thanked the Principal and the school staff for the great role of leadership and the powerful words of encouragements towards them which bring them to become successful and achieve their dreams.

He recalled that as students they have gone through challenges in life though some fallen but those who continue to move to complete their studies are regarded as the survivors.

“We are the survivors of the fittest who still remain until this very day after the exam which will determine our future after the selection to continue next year,” he said.

He encouraged his fellow classmates to be faithful, honest and let God be their guide who will lead them through and direct them to towards their ambition.”

The principal John Leua also extended his thanks to the graduates for their great accomplishment.

“You have now completed the fifth level of education.

“This weekend marks the sixth graduation of form five programme at this school.

“For some of you it has been an academic journey of five long years on the land of kasume while for others it is a shorter trip,’’ he said.

Mr Leua said the sweat, sleepless night, hardworking and tears of five years has been paid off.

“And now you rightly deserved to be honoured before your dear parents, guidance, and the school and all who are here today have the privileged and honor that you are great to be the students here in Tenakoga Adventist High School.

“I believe it was really a challenging year and I hope you have a good time with your fellow classmates, schoolmates, and you teachers,” he said.

Mr Leua said he believed Tenakoga had changed the lives of some of the students to become good ambassadors of the school when going out there.

“The journey is still long and tough to reach the higher point and see the next chapter in life.

“There are pages in life that are still unfold and beyond the unfold pages there is success,’’ Mr Leua said.

He urged the graduates not to be discouraged even if their results are negative but live accordingly to the standard of the Tenakoga motto to “finish the task” and you will become future leaders of this nation.

The weekend ceremony started off on Friday through Saturday and concluded on Sunday.

Parents, guardians and guests from Honiara and around the school turned up to witness the programme.

It was both joy and sadness for the students to finally bid farewell after many years together at the school.
