Dorcas mourns death of a member

A LONG time member and supporter of the Kukum Adventist Dorcas Society in Honiara has passed away over the weekend.

Helen Roba, aged 62, was called to rest on Sunday afternoon after a long illness.

Since Sunday members of the dorcas fraternity have mourned the loss of one of their long time members.

She died at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara.

Late Helen is a former dorcas leader at the Kukum SDA church who has been actively involved in the work of church for many years.

Apart from the dorcas she also served as a deaconess for the church.

Hail from Beabea, Roviana in the western province, she also worked in a number organization including the church before retiring.

Despite being sick she was actively involved in the dorcas work at her home village in Beabea until she was admitted at the National Referral Hospital.

Most members of the dorcas society who have arrived in Honiara ahead of next week’s annual dorcas federation congress were sadden by the news.

They also pay tribute to her because of her contribution and active role in the church especially in dorcas work in the country.

Late Helen is being survived by two sons, a husband, two grannies and a daughter-in-law.

Since her passing away tributes have been received from relatives, close associates, members and friends from around the country and abroad.

She will be laid to rest at her home village in Beabea.

A funeral service to allow dorcas and Adventist members, friends and relatives to pay their last respect will be held at Kukum SDA church this morning at 9am before her body be flown down at 3pm to Munda and then transported to her final resting place.
