More than 800 young people attended the congress that comes from Marovo, Choiseul and Bougainville province including surrounding communities from the provincial capital, Gizo.
The Youth Congress was organized by the SDA Western Region to conclude its 2010 youth programs.
Youths from the regions have participated in various youth activities and have set focus for 2011 youth programs.
Western Provincial desk officer from the Ministry of Women, Youth and Children Affairs, Andre Tipoki said the congress is held annually for youths in the regions to windup its youth programs.
“This means the youth programs for this year have concluded and youths will set focus for 2011 youth programs and plans for the next four years,” Mr Tipoki said.
He said the youth policy was also highlighted at the congress, adding youths required to know how church would uphold to implement its side to strengthen youths.
Guest speaker during the congress Dr Leeroy Elisha, a Lecturer and Counselor at the Pacific Adventist University (PAU) in Papua New Guinea informed youths that prayer is the most important thing in life.
Dr Elisha told youths that only prayer can help them in everyday life.
The congress was launch under this year theme ‘’Youth Alive-Reducing at Risk Behaivour”.
