HUNDREDS of young Pathfinders left for Vanuatu to this week to attend the 2010 Trans Pacific Union Mission (TPUM) Pathfinder Camporee to be held next week.

The Children from various Pathfinder clubs within Seventh Day Adventist churches around the entire Solomon Islands will attend the Camporee which starts December 19 and finishes on Christmas day.

Solomon Islands SDA Mission Youth Director Pastor Wilfred Liligheto said the first lot of Pathfinders flew out of the country on Sunday and many more were expected to fly out during the course of the week.

“This Camporee will indeed be an experience never to forget for the little children-especially those who have never attended such big events,” he said.

Pr Liligheto said more than 500 Pathfinders from the Solomon Islands had planned to attend the Camporee, however due to difficulties in transport arrangements, the current number expected to attend stands at around 200.

“Pathfinder clubs from the Solomon Islands have over the months established ties with sister-clubs in Vanuatu,” Pr Liligheto said.

“Therefore arriving one week early prior to the Camporee, they’ll be staying under the care of their sister-clubs.”

He said guest speakers at the Camporee would include; Dr Baraka Muganda, who is the World Wide Pathfinder director for the general conference of the SDA Church and Pr Nick Kross, the South Pacific Division Pathfinder director.

Meanwhile thousands of Pathfinders from all six member countries of the TPUM which include; Solomon Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Niue, Tuvalu and Tonga are expected to flock into Vanuatu this week before the start of the Camporee over the weekend.

The Camporee will be held at Blue Water Island, an hour drive outside Port Vila Town.
