FLEA market is a very important opportunity for women of Kakabona community to be under the spotlight.

Guadalcanal provincial member for Tandai ward, John Nano made the statement during a flea market held by Matana Ara Women Association recently.

Mr Nano said the flea market gives an opportunity for women in the community to come together and showcase the skills and knowledge they have.

“It is an opportunity for them to display and sell their products such as carvings, handicrafts, flowers and food.”

He said it also brings people together as a community to share and to see vital role of women in supplementing income for households.

Mr Nano encouraged the women to continue to work hard and utilize the knowledge and skills they have.

Flea market was formed in 2007 by Matana Ara women association of Kakabona to strengthen and empower women in the community.
