Women end livelihood training

A GROUP of women who have completed a week-long livelihood training in Honiara were told to maintain the skills they’ve obtained.

The workshop concluded yesterday with presentation of certificates.

General Secretary of Development services Cxchange, Colin Roqubatu said increasing idleness in the country has discourage the standard of living.

He said the skills achieved by participants from the workshop will help build and improve the standard of living, both in the communities and village level.

“Such workshop is very important because it helps you (participants) to improve your skills and learn new things”.

He congratulated the participants on their achievement in the workshop.

One of the participants, Alema Talasasa said the workshop has given them confidence in creativity.

It is a great privilege for us to learn new skills through practice and with passion, said Ms Talasasa.

“We will maintain the skills and take them back to our communities and share them with women in the rural areas”. 

The livelihood workshop covers cooking, floral arrangement, soap making and landscaping.

About 56 women attended the workshop, which aimed at assisting gain livelihood skills.

It was conducted by trainer John Fadamana at the Solomon Islands Development Trust (SIDT) compound.
