YWCA calls on artists to redesign logo

THE Young Women Christian Association (YWCA) will celebrate International Youth Day by launching a competition for young people between the ages of 16-30 to redesign the YWCA logo.

The prize - $1000 hard cash.

The YWCA Solomon Islands has used the standard YWCA ‘blue triangle’ as its logo since it was established in 1975.

However YWCA staff and Board members want to give the logo a fresh, new look that is appealing to young people and representative of the Solomon Islands’ culture.

YWCA Program Officer, Julieanne Wickham said that the YWCA is an organisation committed to supporting young Solomon Islanders and wants to showcase the work of young artists in the country.

The competition starts on Thursday 9th September, and entry forms will be available at the YWCA stall at International Youth Day celebrations at the Multi-purpose Hall.

Competition entry forms can also be picked up at the YWCA office during business hours. Competition entry is free and the winning designer will get a $1000 cash prize and the chance to see their art work displayed in the Solomon Islands and abroad.
