Those were some of comments made by dorcas ladies who have participated in the week-long event currently under at Maranatha Hall, Burns Creek, east Honiara.
The federation week kicked off in style on Monday with a parade from Kukum Campus up to the camp ground by more than 5000 Dorcas and Adventist Men.
The congress itself attracted dorcas societies and Adventist men alike as far as from Choiseul in the West to Temotu in the East.
The weeklong program involves morning and evening devotions, seminars, workshops plus other activities.
Speaking to Solomon Star some of the women said that despite the crowdedness of the camp itself, programs have been both interesting and inspiring.
“The various messages shared by different speakers and also messages in songs by these ladies and the Adventist men have truly been comforting and inspiring,”
Elizabeth Ratu of Lau Valley Dorcas Federation said.
The congress also gives opportunities for women from the provinces to share their skills in making arts and crafts and also sell their products.
Various dorcas societies from Marovo in the Western province were seen displaying their weaved bags and crafts, and also some handmade carvings at the camp ground.
“This is the chance for us to promote our talents and skills.
“By displaying these products of ours, others will see, purchase, obtain or learn from us,” a Dorcas from the Western Province said.
One of the Adventist men and security personnel spotted by the Solomon Star at the campsite as Elison Kabolo.
He said the weeklong event had been both exciting and tiring for him especially during the night and day to keep an eye on the camp site and its properties from intruders.
“I like it here and its exciting week for me,” he said.
While the women at busy listening to speakers and talks there are men who are busy preparing food for lunch and dinner.
Some of the men said they have enjoyed their work so far assisting their women folks.
Apart from men and women, there are children who also kept the camp ground alive by playing and providing company for their fathers while the mother is out taking part in the various programs.
Market vendors were also noted near the camp site who have also took the time to come and sell their food and produce.
Some of them said its been a busy week since Monday selling food and earning some extra cash.
The federation week will end this weekend.
