World Vision is hosting a free advocacy concert on 4 December at the National Art Gallery.

The concert aims to spread messages and support for ending gender-based violence and substance abuse and ties in with the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence campaign.

World Vision’s Gender project team in Honiara has been working with III Kings Band, winner of the Pacific Break Award 2010, to develop songs advocating on ending gender-based violence and substance abuse that they will perform at the concert.

Youths from World Vision’s key target communities will also show their talents and provide entertainment.

A youth group from Burns Creek community will perform original songs and youths from White River community will show off their dancing skills.

The Solomon Islands Women in Business Association (SIWIBA) will also open their Christmas Mere’s Market on the day which will be held from 4-8 December at the National Art Gallery.

The theme of the market is “Appreciating the role of women in our society this Christmas season.”  A wide range of locally made products including garments, handicrafts, flowers and plants and food will be on offer.

The Mere’s Market is the perfect place to pick up something nice for loved ones to show how much you appreciate them this holiday season.

Everyone is invited to come to the National Art Gallery on Wednesday 4 December from 10am onwards to check out the Mere’s Market and start your Christmas shopping whilst enjoying the free entertainment from III Kings and World Vision’s youth groups!
