ACOM students’ program start today

MORE than 2000 students from schools, training centres and colleges operated under the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) will kick off their week-long program starting on Monday.

The official opening of the event was conducted yesterday at the St Barnabas Cathedral despite the rain experienced in Honiara.

ACOM education secretary Desmond Waita told the Solomon star yesterday, the event is the 4th Anglican Church of Melanesia Schools, Institutions, Colleges (ACOMSIC) program organised by ACOM for its students.

Mr Waita added that the program this week will feature, sports activities, spiritual programs, health and educational talks an entertainment to help motivate and improve the minds of the students.

The students came from most of the schools operated by ACOM in the provinces.

Mr Waita said a highlight of the program will be a pageant show where the students will be showcasing their talents and skills during the event.

“We hope that students will be enjoying their time together during the program.”

Mr Waita said that in terms of security, they also engaged securities to look after the students during their stay here in Honiara.

He also appealed to the parents to come forward to support the students during the course of the program.
