New Tegibangara SDA church

Members of the Tegibangara Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church officially opened their dream church building recently.

Pastor George Fafale, president of the Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) of the Seventh-day Adventist church, officially opened the Tegibangara Seventh-day Adventist Church, North East Choiseul on 9th July, 2014.

opening of this church will mean the Adventist member of Tagibangara will now have a proper place of worship” remarked Pr. Lawrence Tanabose, who unveiled a placard to mark the official opening of the church, and took the dedication service.

A crowd of over 1000 gathered to mark the official dedication of the Church. They came from surrounding Adventist and United Church villages, and members of Tagibangara Honiara community led by Billy Tagolo that travelled down on a boat for the church opening.

Among the official invited guests was honourable Parliament Member for East Choiseul Manasseh Sogavere and his wife, the Minister of United Church based in Pagoe, Honourable Jacob Sogavere, Provincial Member of Sega, Choiseul Province, and chiefs representing surrounding communities, Pastor Isaac Molea, North East Choiseul Ministerial District Administrator, and Pastor George Fafale of SIM.

The Tagibangara Church was built from generous contribution of funds and materials from Adventist church members of Tagibangara and nearby resource owners. The Adventist member from Australia Tagibangara community in Honiara and assistance from MP from North East Choiseul Manesseh Sogavare.

A feast followed the opening ceremony, which all who attended ate to their full.

The new Tagibangara church can seat over 800 people. It took over 5 years to complete.
