Companions reminded of their duties

28 July 2014

The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM) His Grace Archbishop the Right Reverend David Vunagi has reminded the companions’ ministry of their duties.

In his sermon to commemorate the St James feat day yesterday at the Barnabas Cathedral, His Grace highlighted two key components of their work.

He said spiritual and practical components are the two pillars of the work of companion mission.

“Spiritually the Melanesian Brotherhood needs your prayers to support them in their works; you have to have a special hospitality of your prayers to the brotherhood.

“And practically your duties are to protect the interest of the Melanesian Brotherhood,” he said.

He explained as a companion your duty is to help the mission of the brothers in their undertakings.

“Assist the brother with resources which can help them to carry out their duties, they need the resources to do their studies and advance their learning,” he said.

He said the challenge for the companion ministry is what a man or woman (companions) can do to move forward the mission.

Archbishop David Vunagi, meanwhile thanked the companion ministry for the continuing support to the Melanesian Brotherhood.
