Catholic teachers under the Archdiocese of Honiara have concluded their solidarity training at the Silesian Sisters, Don Bosco last Thursday.

The training ended with nearly 100 participants receiving their certificates.

In closing the training a chief education officer of the Catholic Education Authority said, “this is the 8th solidarity training for catholic school teachers.

“We can continue to learn as we can but the most important thing is to fulfill the purpose of this training that is to put into practice what you have learnt.”

Joseth Bata’anisia of the of the Teachers Development Division within the Ministry of Education who represented the Ministry said Catholic Church is going well ahead in the Professional development as the Ministry’s pillars.

“The Ministry is standing in for Pillars, which is access to quality education, equitable education, education management, and professional development.”

For the forth Pillar, Catholic schools and other churches schools are going well ahead like the Catholic solidarity training that have been completed.”

Ms Bata’anisia also challenged the teachers.“With theses series of trainings, what and how are you going to do with the knowledge you have acquired this week”.

Catholic teachers solidarity training is a long dream of the Arch Diocese of Honiara His Grace Bishop Adrian Smith SM to train Catholic teachers to learn and share the spiritual and intellectual aspect of life to help their students.

I finally eventuate and materialized in 2004 after one of the Australian Catholic Dioceses in Melbourne steps in to assist in funding the training.

Up until 2014, the group left and the Catholic Church was responsible to carry on with the work in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
