Vata parish celebrates St. Bartholomew day

VATA Community Parish, North West Guadalcanal has celebrated the Saint Bartholomew day with children receiving Holy Communion, baptism, and a community feast on Monday.

This was reported by Solomon Star’s North West Guadalcanal stringer, John Toki.

The celebration started at 10 am with a Holy Mass, which was led by acting parish priest Fr. Peter Chele.

More than a hundred villagers from Pisei, Aruligo, Doma and the surrounding communities turned up for the event, one of the biggest in the community according to the church calendar.

Mr Toki also reported that seven children have also received Holy Communion by Fr. Chele and two infants also accept Holy baptism.

In his message to the parents that receive hold communion and baptism, Fr. Chele told them to continue to look after their children well to become good future citizens of their communities as well as the nation as a whole.

According to Mr Toki, provincial member for Saghalu ward Brian Tuva was also present during yesterday’s event.

Speaking at the event, Mr Tuva wishes to thank the surrounding communities to invite him for the event, especially Vata parish members.

He also assured people that were present that, even though the provincial government did not have a budget for his visits to the communities Saghalu ward, he will still continue on with his community visits in the coming weeks.
