Last chance to step up to educational empowerment with Westpac

22 April 2015

With nominations for the Westpac Women’s Education Grants closing on 24 April, the bank encourages all women and girls who would benefit from financial assistance to afford the cost of their education to apply for a Grant before it’s too late.

Westpac is offering a total of 6 education grants in Solomon Islands this round – two, $1,000 grants for primary school girls, two $3,850 grants for high school or secondary college students and two $6,500 grants for female tertiary students or workers who would like to return to study.

Westpac has offered these grants since 2011 because the bank recognises the critical link between education and the broader empowerment of women across the Pacific.

“I strongly encourage women and girls from around the country to apply for these grants – they are a huge stepping stone to personal and professional growth,” said Mr Griffin, General Manager, Westpac Solomon Islands.

“Well educated women and girls have a far stronger chance of entering the workforce and enjoying financial stability and overall high levels of wellbeing. For nations, having educated, engaged and financially empowered women is necessary for sustainable social and economic development.” Grant application forms and information on criteria are available from Westpac’s website and from all Westpac branches.

Applications close on 24 April with winners will announced at the end of May.
