New SIVB chairman promises more action

18 June 2014

NEWLY appointed Solomon Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB) chairman has met with SIVB chief executive officer (CEO) as part of improving tourism promotional activities locally and internationally.

The meeting was held in Honiara yesterday.

Wilson Ne’e who was recently appointed to the post told the Solomon Star yesterday the meeting was to talk with Josefa Tuamoto regarding his appointment and SIVB future plans.

“We discuss with him some very important matters about SIVB and ways where we could able to do more and promote this country to the next level.

“So far the CEO had done well prior to his appointment early this year, but we will push harder to ensure promotional plans are on track,” Mr Ne’e said.

Mr Ne’e said during the brief meeting they have discussed many issues that would be raised during the upcoming board meeting and changes that would be made.

“SIVB is heading in towards different direction; therefore our focus now is to increase tourist arrival in the country.

“We want to make sure operators and SIVB collaborate together to ensure aims and goals of SIVB are being accomplished,” Mr Ne’e said.

The chairman added the bureau would focus more on carrying out its plan actively rather than talking.

“Many times we talk about what to do but we never take any action to do it and achieve our plans.

“But my board this year would try to do more actions than talking,” Mr Ne’e said.

Meanwhile, Mr Ne’e urged his board members and SIVB staff to support him with his plans and visions for tourism in the country.
