14 tourist boats scheduled to visit this year

21 January 2015

FOURTEEN tourist boats are scheduled to visit the Solomon Islands this year according to organiser Dest Solo and Tours Managing Director Wilson Maelaua.

Mr Maelaua said the figure is the confirmed number but it is likely to increase.

“I have 14 cruise ships confirmed to visit this year but there are still other groups still showing interest in travelling here.”

He said the number is large compared to previous years.

He said the increase indicates our understanding of what tourism is about which resulted in people’s collective reaction towards it.

“Our hospitality is all that it takes to get more tourists to our country. We already have an attractive history of the World War II, coupled with our natural beauty and diverse cultures.

“All we need is to show respect, smile and greet them when they visit.”

Mr Maelaua said the boat will not only visit the capital but also other parts of the country.

One tourist boat had already made the first visit for the year last week, and the second is expected today.
