HONIARA City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor is appealing to the general public in the city to respect and give their best smiles to the  tourists that will arrive in Honiara tomorrow morning.

Alfred Fatai highlighted this during the launching of LEAF 2 years program at National Art Gallery yesterday.

“About 2000 Australian tourists will grace on our shores on Friday morning and I’m therefore calling on the general public in Honiara to show them respect and give your best smiles while they are on our shores.

“This is an important occasion for our city and  we must ensure to show our respect and culture to them because this year and beyond more cruise ships will be visiting Solomon Islands,” Mr Fatai said.

Cruise ship, Sun Prince will berth tomorrow morning and depart later in the afternoon.

Solomon Island Visitors Bureau (SIVB) with other local associates cruise agents are organising the trip.

Sun Princess is a Sun class cruise ship built in 1995 and operated by Princess Cruise’s line.

At the time of her construction, she was one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

She is the lead ship of her class that includes sister ships Dawn Princess, Sea Princess and the P&O ship, Oceana.

Mr Fatai encourages all business houses in the city and general public to ensure their surroundings and the streets are clean.

“I’m encouraging all the business houses in the city and even the general public to clean up their surroundings tomorrow (today).

He said, its important to clear whatever rubbish that is lying around the streets and drains.
