Isle De Fashion dresses contingent

19 June 2014

THE Ministry of Culture and Tourism (MCT) has thanked local business Fashion De Hapi Isles for supplying the official outfit for the country’s contingent to the 5th Melanesian Festival in Papua New Guinea (PNG).

The festival will kick off June 28th in Port Moresby and will run for two weeks ending on July 11.

About 168 participants will take part in various activities including artistic demonstrations and exhibitions, literacy and performing arts, traditional and contemporary dance and music and theatre arts.

Speaking during the handing over of the uniforms yesterday at Fashion De Hapi Isles, Anthony Saru building, Permanent Secretary of the ministry John Wasi thanked the shop for supplying the uniforms in the final hours.

“The ministry was finding it hard to get uniforms during these dying hours since time is catching up on us,” Mr Wasi said.

“But since Fashion De Hapi Isles made these uniforms possible, I thanked them for these official uniforms,” Mr Wasi said.

He added the uniforms are a vital tool that would depict the culture of Solomon Island in PNG.

These outfits will be worn by the contingent during the departure and throughout the event.

The uniforms are designed for both male and female participants who take part in the event.
