A high level delegation from government led by the acting Prime Minister Manasseh Maelanga will be attending the Rennell and Bellona 2nd Appointed Day celebration today in Bellona.

The delegation which comprised of four other ministers and senior Government officials will travel on a chartered Solomon Airlines flight this morning.

Renbel province is celebrating its 22nd Second Appointed Day which officially falls on July 20 every year.

The celebration was moved to today due to work commitment in the past weeks.

Renbel became a province of its own in 1992 after being part of Central Islands Province.

Mr Maelanga said he is honored and privileged to be invited by the leaders of Renbel to join them in celebrating the Province’s special day.

“The presence of my delegation at the occasion signifies the National Government’s ongoing recognition and support towards our provinces. It is an occasion that we should use to take stock of what we have achieved and the challenges that we need to address to move forward as provinces,” Mr Maelanga said today.

Ministers enlisted to accompany the Acting Prime Minister include the Minister for Environment Bradley Tovosia, Minister for Peace and National Unity Hypolite Taremae, Minister for Forestry Dickson Mua and Minister for Culture and Tourism Hon Samuel Manetoali.
