07 August 2014

The country’s top panpipes group the Narasirato fortnight ago highlighted the country’s culture through music at the Fuji rock festival in Japan.

With their unique cultural style of music, sounds and dancing the group performed at the city of Naeba.

Their participation was based on are quest from the Fuji rock festival organising community.

The Fuji rock festival was a three days event for musical groups to showcase their style of music through singing and dancing while showcasing cultures from different countries.

Reports said the group’s performance had allowed the Japanese people to see the islands unique style of panpipes music through what they call ‘promoting our unique cultural identity.’

Narasirato president John Bosco Houanihau said he was really proud of the boys adding that it was their third time to participate in such program.

He said such event helped to link the difference of tradition and culture and across the world.

He explained the group was recognised after being participating in the world musical expo in Melbourne in 2008 and in 2012.

Meanwhile following their return from Fuji rock Festival last week the group staged two shows in Suva, Fiji.

The other show was from a request by the  Solomon Islands students studying in Fiji.

Takings from the charity show will go towards the Solomon Islands Red Cross(SIRC) which has been helping out during the recent April flash flooding.
