FLORENCE Young Christian School will host a parent’s open day this Friday.

The school principal George Saemane said the day is important for parents to visit their children’s classrooms and see some of the work their children have produced over the term.

“There will be no classes on Friday as the day has been set aside for parents to visit the school from 8pm-3pm to talk to the school administration, subject teachers and class teachers.”

Mr Saemane said the open-day is important and the school values parents’ contributions.

During the day, parents will are going to be given the opportunity to look at students’ work, discuss their child’s academic performances and talk to their children’s subject teachers if they need clarification.

The principal said the school hope parents will sees this day as an important day to come and talk to them on a person to person basis.

Currently, the school enrolled about 832 students from prep class to form six, and about 800 parents are expected to attend the open-day.

“I think it is important that parents visit the school,” the school principal said.

“The school exists because of children and therefore it is important for parents to come and see what their children are taught and what their children have learnt.”

He said it is also important for parents to take this opportunity to discuss their children’s academic reports.

“This activity is significant because it is one of the ways the school uses to continue to inform parents as partners in the education of their children.”
