A GOVERNMENT minister who resigned over the weekend has rejoined the government on Wednesday.

West Guadalcanal MP and former minister for Police, National Security and Correctional Services Moses Garu was one of the first seven government ministers who tendered his resignation letter to Governor General Sir Frank Kabu last Saturday.

On Wednesday, he moved back and was sworn in as the new minister for Home Affairs.

Another MP who rejoined the government after resigning on Sunday was Savo/Russell MP Dickson Mua.

Mua took his oath of office as the new minister for Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification.

The pair were amongst eight ministers the government sworn-in yesterday following the resignation of nine ministers and eight backbenchers over the weekend.

Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare still has four ministries to fill as he faces a no-confidence vote next Monday.

Meanwhile, the group camping at Honiara Hotel claimed despite Mr Garu and Mr Mua rejoining the government, they still have 28 MPs on their side.
