The only female parliamentarian spilt her disappointment over the greedy attitude entertained by male MPs.

The only female Member of Parliament (MP) Freda Tuki Soriacomua says MPs cannot be satisfied with what they have as ministers in the government.

She stressed this in parliament on Monday when the motion of no confidence to oust the former Prime Minister (PM) Manasseh Sogavare was debated.

Tuki stood among 50 MPs as the only female parliamentarian to spill her disappointment with the greedy attitude entertained by male MPs, who left the government only to gain numerical strength to oust the PM.

She said some MPs were given portfolios in the government ministries to implement the policy of the Democratic Coalition for Change (DCC) regime, but they seem to be expecting a lot of things, thus conspired to overthrow the DCC.

She pointed out that MPs were never satisfied with all the privileges before them as elected leaders and even refused to accept the portfolios entrusted on them as government ministers.

“This is not a healthy attitude for elected MPs to work together for the betterment of the country with a vision to achieve.

“This greedy attitude only led to divisions in government and political instability that will never allow the country to progress forward, in terms of development.”

She added that there were a lot of problems for this country to address but MPs keep arguing and fight over things that has nothing to do with the interest of Solomon Islands.

Tuki reiterated that she believed if more women are elected into parliament, the country would be able to see changes and development that can touch the lives of the people.

She was the Minister for Women, Youths, Children and Family Affairs, under the reign of the DCC government that was ousted on Monday in a motion of no confidence.
