Guadalcanal 2nd Appointed day celebration marked today

THE Guadalcanal province second appointed day official celebration will be held on Friday at the National Museum Auditorium in Honiara.

Minister for Education Lazarus Alfred Rima, confirmed to the Solomon Star that they had moved the date to Friday despite the actual date being on the 1st of August.

However, most of the Guadalcanal people all throughout the province had already paid their respect and celebrated on the August 1.

Mr Rima said on Wednesday, each of their wards’ provincial members gathered with their people to do their own celebration.

"Even schools and others like GPPOL also organised their own celebration to mark that very important day."

Friday's celebrations are to mark the 34th Anniversary of the Guadalcanal Province of when it became a provincein the Solomon Islands.

Mr Rima said he also spent time on Wednesday with his people to celebrate the day.
