Governor General Sir Frank Kabui has announced the New Years Honors recipients during his New Years speech on the SIBC.


ELEVEN people were honoured by the Queen during the New Year.

Governor General Sir Frank Kabui announced this during his New Year’s speech.

They include Knight Commander of the British Empire, KBE- Officer of the British Empire, OBE- Member of the British Empire, MBE- British Empire Medal, BEM-and the Queen’s Police Medal, QPM.

“It is now my pleasure to announce the Honours and Awards, 2019, approved by Her Majesty the Queen in accordance with the approval of the Honours and Awards Committee with the consent of the Prime Minister,” he said.

The order of the Bristish Empire is as follows;

Knight Commander of the British Empire, KBE is awarded to Leslie Tanaboe, Reverend, BOSETO, for services to the church, rural and community development.

Officer of the British Empire, OBE- is awarded to;

Daniel KIPILI for services to education and community development and Stephen Frank ABAITA for services to policing and community development.

Member of the British Empire, MBE is awarded to;

Raphael Solfa TOITANI for services to teaching, the church and community development.

Martha Bumai, Mrs HORIWAPU for services to rural and community development and Wilson Wilikai WALEUALO for services to civil aviation and community development.

The British Empire Medal, BEM is awarded to;

Father Devine Kabau MAEKAI for services to policing, the church and community development.

Nester, Mrs KOLONI for services to the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force.

Cherry Karoso GALOKEPOTO for services to education and community development and Peter SAFUE for services to education and community development.

The last award is the Queen’s Police Medal, QPM-which was awarded to Richard MENAPI for service to the Solomon Islands Police Force.
