Sogavare is DCGA’s choice for PM’s job

THE Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) has nominated the Member of Parliament Elect for East Choiseul Constituency Manasseh Damukana Sogavare as their candidate for the Prime Minister’s post.

A statement from DCGA stated that Party Wing Leaders and the 33 Members of the DCGA made the decision by consensus during a meeting held Tuesday.

Party Wing Leaders and members in welcoming the decision have vowed to support their Prime Minister’s candidate.

“DCGA has the calibre of quality and respected leaders both old and new that can lead this nation forward.

“Making positive progress does not depend on one man but a group of like-minded leaders that have the vision to move the country forward,” a statement from DCGA highlights.

Speaking during the meeting, one of the two female candidates and MP Elect for TemotuVatud Freda Tuki has also voiced her support on behalf of herself and the MP Elect for Gizo KolombangaraLanelleTanangada.

DCGA’s candidate for the Prime Minister’s post Manasseh Sogavare has welcomed the trust and confidence bestowed upon him by DCGA members for his nomination.

“I welcome my nomination with a thankful heart and humility. It shows the trust and confidence in my leadership.

“I appreciate with high regard the decision made by the DCGA members,” Sogavare said.

He added the fact that the decision was done on consensus demonstrates maturity and unity amongst the members of DCGA.

He acknowledged the confidence of DCGA members in his qualities and ability to lead this nation during some of the hardships this country went through in the past.

Sogavare’s nomination for Prime Minister was signed and endorsed by MP for Central Guadalcanal Peter ShanelAgovaka (Our Party), MP for West Are’Are John Maneniaru (Wing Leader Kadere Party), MP for Kia/Hograno/Havulei Jeremiah Manele (Wing Leader DAP), MP for South Vella La Vella Frederick Kologeto.
