Mangau: Janus still exists

ACTING Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau says anti-corruption taskforce Janus still exists and continuing with investigations into corruption cases.

He stated this on Thursday when asked whether Janus is still active in 2020.

 “Janus is one normal unit under the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF),” Mr Mangau told reporters at his weekly press conference yesterday.

He added that during their festive season operations, all manpower were driven from all sectors of the RSIPF to join the operations.

Mangau said with conclusion of the festive season operations, officers are now returning to their normal functions.

“So Janus or the corruption unit exist and still continue to investigate.”

He however, explained that investigations into corruption cases are not easy but are complicated because it involves collection of evidence and all those sort of stuff.

He said it is not easy in terms of investigation but that Janus task force still exist and still continuing with their work.

Janus is a joint task force operation between the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) and the Ministry of Finance and Treasury.

It was established in August 2016.
