BSP launch new VISA debit card

13 March 2014

FIJI TIMES - Bank South Pacific (BSP) has launched its new VISA debit card in Suva, which, among other things, will make travelling easier for its customers.

BSP has extended its services with an instant card issuance over the counter, flexible and easy to use, access to VISA's wide global coverage and acceptance and which customers can use at millions of ATMs in more than 200 countries worldwide.

BSP Fiji country manager Kevin McCarthy says this is the first time they have introduced this debit card in Fiji after it was introduced in PNG about five to six years ago.

"For the first time we are able to offer the similar product that we have had in Papua New Guinea now for about five to six years and it's an integral part of our products," he said.

McCarthy said Fiji ran a bit independently in terms of products compared to PNG.

BSP Group chief executive Robin Fleming said the new debit card had an annual fee of $35 and customers who used other overseas ATM machines would be charged $F8 fee.

The bank offers the same features that other debit cards provide.

Fleming said BSP was improving its services.  "We're building up our range of services and products and prioritise what we have done."
