London trip for Pacific 8

30 October 2015

PACIFIC Islands tourism operators will have a chance to market and promote their products at the World Trade Market 2015 at the ExCel in London from November 2-5.

A statement from the South Pacific Tourism Organisation this week said eight national tourism offices and private sector operators from Cook Islands, Fiji, Samoa, Tahiti, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and New Caledonia would be at the event.

SPTO chief executive Ilisoni Vuidreketi said: "The South Pacific participants are looking forward to establishing themselves at WTM as a unique destination.

"Travel trade events such as WTM offer our members great opportunities to market and promote our Pacific products to a very large number of travel industry professional and travel agents.

"The SPTO and our member countries continue to work tirelessly to explore and harness marketing opportunities from our long haul markets such as Europe and the UK and WTM is a great event to seek these business opportunities and to stamp our mark as a truly unique destination," he said.

The South Pacific Booth AS255 will feature the newly launched Traveler's Guide to the Pacific Islands which will be distributed free.

The national tourism offices of Vanuatu and Kiribati received assistance to attend WTM through a contingency fund grant from the European Union to assist Pacific Island states that were devastated during Cyclone Pam early this year.

The fund is managed by the SPTO's Pacific Regional Tourism Capacity Building Programme (PRTCBP).

SPTO said the WTM was the leading global travel event held in London annually and the business-to-business event offered a diverse range of destinations and industry sectors from the United Kingdom and international travel professionals.

It provides a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business.
