Mamula fundraiser tomorrow

06 March 2014

The Solomon Islands National U19 Football team fundraising committee has sold twenty tables in the lead up to the gala corporate dinner event and only a limited number remain available for the public buy.

Since launching their efforts two weeks the committee, chaired by Barnabas Anga, has been hard at work organising its main event – a corporate style gala dinner that will be hosted at the Paradise Restaurant this Saturday (8th of March).

The main drive was put behind the selling of the corporate tables for 10 persons which are priced at $10 000. The theme adopted by the committee is ‘Turn the Page’ as it tries to rally support behind the U19 team.

As of Wednesday the committee has reported that 20 tables have been sold and the target number is just within reach.

In the meantime, the committee has acknowledged all the parties that have booked tables saying that their support for the national U19 team is appreciated.

“We thank all the parties who have opted to support our effort to raise funds for our national U19 football team. Your contribution will go towards giving our national team an opportunity to compete at the regional qualifiers and possibly go all the way to the FIFA U20 World Cup,” says the committee.

At the same time the committee continues its appeal to anyone who has received the invitation but has not confirmed their booking to contact SIFF on phone 26496 or email [email protected]

The organisations that have already booked tables for the corporate dinner event are Abraham Eke & Francis Waleilia, Bowmans, Central Bank of Solomon Islands, Credit Corporation, Honiara Football Association, Hot Bread Kitchen, KOSSA, Lee Kwok , Melanesian Security Solutions, Mr & Mrs Loyley Ngira, National Provident Fund, Our Telekom, Prime Minister’s Office, Embassy of the  Republic of China (Taiwan), S League Board, SIBC, Solomon Airlines, SIFF, Solbrew and Y Sato & Company.

In addition to the corporate dinner event SIFF is also working with the fundraising committee to raise some funds from a series of friendly matches that will be hosted at Lawson Tama.

A nominal entrance fee will be charged to spectators to allow the public to contribute towards the preparation of the national U19 team.

The national U19 team is preparing for the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) U19 Championship scheduled to take place in Fiji in May.

The winner will represent Oceania in the 2015 FIFA U20 World Cup which will take place in Auckland, New Zealand.
