A DEVELOPMENT Planning Course for rugby was held at Tanoa International in Nadi, Fiji over the weekend.

It was attended by Oceania rugby union development managers and chief executive officers (CEOs).

Over 130 participants, presenters and educators from around the Oceania Region and 16 Member Unions attended the training in Nadi, Fiji for the 2017 Oceania Rugby Training and Education Superweek.

This year’s Superweek is comprised of coaching courses, match officials courses, GiR training and conference, training and education conference, strength and conditioning coaching and the Oceania rugby regional development workshop.

Running across 2 weeks the program will see an additional 72 accreditations for 7’s, 15’s and Strength and Conditioning Coaches achieved along with an additional 45 Match Official accreditations for the region.

“This boost of accredited coaches and Match Officials is the building blocks that Oceania Rugby and our Member Unions will use to continue the development of our game in the region” said Talemo Waqa Oceania Rugby Regional Training Manager.

The Development Workshop which runs from the 12th -14th August will see participants from across the region discuss and present on various areas of rugby including, financial operations, player welfare, issues facing development of rugby, Women’s rugby, domestic competitions, Get into Rugby and Olympic Solidarity.
