The country’s leading telecommunications firm hosted a road race in Auki town for the Malaita public where top performing athletes received token prizes.
The Our Telekom road race, commonly known as Fun Run, attracted men, women, youths and school children who turned up in numbers and enjoy the Malaita Day celebration through sports.
Some of the national runners like Benjamin Duke and Henry Mabe, who are residing in Auki town, also competed in the road race.
Their presence made the race more competitive than expected.
The race started at 7am at the Auki field to Aligegeo field and then back for the prize presentation.
Members of the public who took part in the road race spoke highly of Our Telekom for organizing such joyful event to mark the Malaita 34th second appointed day.

“I want to thank the Auki public, especially to the parents who turn up with their children, which made the event very colorful and successful,” Mr Elo said.
“The aim of this event is to bring the Malaita public together through sports to mark the Malaita Day 34th second appointed day,” he added.
“Special thanks go out to the children who are part of this event, when we plan this event we want the children to be part of it and today we are very happy to see many children turn up in numbers for this event.”
