ARCHERS’ LANDED - Solomon Star News

THE six Solomon Islands archers have touched down in New Caledonia last Friday ahead of the Oceania Archery Championship set to kick off on Monday 9th of July in Paita.

President of the Archery Federation of Solomon Islands Nihal Seneviratne told Star from New Caledonia, the team has arrived safely in New Caledonia, Friday.

“We’ve arrived safely here in New Caledonia.

“We were warmly welcomed here by officials, thus, we just feel at home here,’’ he said.

Mr Seneviratne said, the six enthusiastic archers wasted no time but went straight for their first training session to feel the atmosphere of the place shortly after their arrival.

They will be battling against top archers in the Oceania region in the five days competition.

“We had our first training session at Dumbea Archery club here in New Caledonia.

“Everyone was all excited to have the honor to train under the guidance of the Oceania Archery Development Agent Robert Turner, in our first session,’’ he added.

The Archery boss said, the presence of Mr Turner has added additional boost to their preparation as he has motivated the players and officials, before the championship proper.

Meanwhile, president Seneviratne said the atmosphere in their camp was calm as the six local archers getting prepared for the championship.
