This was confirmed to Star Sports via a statement from SIFF on Tuesday.
“Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteer Shimpei Fujiyama says goodbye to SIFF after a memorable two-year with the federation,” a statement from SIFF reads.
The statement added, Shimpei started volunteering for SIFF since 2017 and was accommodated at the SIFF academy while assisting the technical department.
Star Sports understands, Shimpei has a degree in sport science specializing in strength and conditioning.
Meanwhile, the statement also conveyed that the 29-year-old helped the Solomon Islands U-17 national team to qualify for the historic first-ever World Cup.
“Shimpei traveled with the team to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil. He trained all our national teams both men and women during his time with us.
“We would like to thank Shimpei (Arigatou gozaimasu) for his contribution towards our national teams and wish him all the best in his future endeavors as he returns to Japan today,” the statement added.
