JOSES Nawo saved Henderson Eels from bowing out in the group stage of the  OFC 2020 Champions League scoring the winning in the final minute of the match against Lautoka FC, Friday.

The Eddie Marahare coached side came from behind to win their final group match against Lautoka FC 3-2 to secure their quarter-final spot.

Nawo told Star Sports after their important win yesterday that despite trailing by two goals they had faith that they will come back and win the match.

Their efforts paid off with three goals in the final 20 minutes of the game.

“First of all, I would like to thank God for the strength he gave us to fight and win this important match,’’ he said.

“Though we were down in the first half, we maintained a strong mind that we will still win the match and we did it,” he added.

Nawo scored the winning for Eels in the 95 minutes of the match after Kennedy Watemae scored their opening goal 71minutes into the second half followed by the equalizer by Raphael Lea’I in the 85th minute.

When asked how it felt to score their winning goal, the Nawo said it was a great feeling which he could not describe.

“It feels great to score an important goal like that.

“I would also like to thank our coach and players for keeping their heads together for this victory,’’ he said.

Eels finished second in Group B with 5 points while hosts Malampa Revivors FC top the pool also with five points but with superior goal difference.
