EVERYONE knows the damage kwaso (home-brew) can do to those consuming it.

Kwaso kills.

That’s the simplest way to convey the message.

It’s a message health educators have been promoting over the past 10 to 15 years.

Those who care to listen should take that seriously.

Otherwise you have no one else to blame but yourself.

The danger kwaso poses to human life was reinforced against this week by doctors at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara.

It followed the death of four men in the last one and half month.

Yes, four deaths in the first 45 days of 2018.

These are men who died directly as a result of them consuming the home-brew.

These men knew that kwaso is not good for them. They knew it can kill them.

But they went ahead and continue to drink it.

It eventually killed them all.

There’ll be more reports of such deaths if people continue to ignore health warnings.

Fathers, in particular, need to stop and listen.

Before they take the next bottle of kwaso, they should stop and look at their wives and children.

Who would take care of those women and lovely children if they die early because of kwaso?

If fathers love their wives and children, they should reconsider their behavior and start making the u-turn.

Throw that bottle of kwaso away and think about the future of your families.

Children will be in a much disadvantaged situation if their fathers died early from the effects of kwaso.

The high rate of kwaso consumption is also a burden to our economy.

Workers who get sick from kwaso would not be able to work anymore.

This is not only a cost to their employers, but also on our health system.

The government will have to spend more money to treat and feed those admitted the hospital due to kwaso-related illnesses.

Let’s not add more problems to our lives and that of our health system.

Say no to kwaso and lead a clean and healthy lifestyle.
