SINU students engaged with local farms

MINISTER for Agriculture, David Tome has highlighted that students of Solomon Islands National University (SINU) are currently engaging with various local cocoa and coconut farms as part of their practical assessments.

Agriculture Minister Tome highlighted this when responding to a question posed by Opposition Leader, Dr Derek Sikua, if students were engaged with farms in planting cocoa and coconut.

He also asked if the government is considering purchasing a land where SINU agriculture students can do their practical assessments.

“Currently students are engaged with local farms in doing their practical assessments.

“All these practical assessments are done in consultation with the ministry of agriculture,” Mr Tome said.

He also revealed that there are plans by the government to provide a land for students to do their practical assessments, however he (Mr Tome) said that he was not in a position to give a positive answer to the question.
