A local solar company and solar specialized dealer Willies Holding Company (WHC) will be introducing a working opportunity for trades’ people in the country next month.

Director David Iro Fulaga said the company will be carrying out a trade program for trade graduates of the Solomon Island College of High Education (SICHE) and Rural Training Centres (RTC) in the country.

“This programe will introduce to those who learn trade skills so that they can put to practical what they learned,” Mr Iro said.

He said the initiative has been submitted to the Ministry of Commerce last year and the ministry is prepared to assist.

“This initiative’s main objective is to create an opportunity for those who have skills but could not put it to use.

“Trades resources that we would be using are supplied by an Australian group of volunteers.

“We have received some trade tools last year through a friendly network between me and them.

“A second shipment should arrive sometimes this month,” he said.

Mr Iro said students who want work experience or attachment work in this particular program will be given an opportunity.

“I would like to assure trade people with the skill will be outlining who have no opportunity, will have the chance to work to gain experience.”

He said the program was initiated after witnessing the many invaluable skills wasted due to no job opportunities.

“We therefore will give ideas for people to start working on their own.”

The program will start next month.
